Item description:

This is an extremely nice Japanese Meiji era Satsuma shallow dish or charger with elaborate decoration showing 3 men in armor. This very substantial piece is made of the earthenware used for Satsuma and Kyo-yaki and the red, green, blue, white and gold enameling of the design is very well executed. There are no markings or signatures that I can find. The piece measures 11 ¾" in diameter and is about 2" high at the rim. There is some light rubbing to the interior of the piece and most of the gilt on the edge is worn off, but there are no chips, cracks or restorations.
