Item description:

This is a nicely decorated Japanese Satsuma earthenware vase dating from the 1800s. The design of chrysanthemums, a golden phoenix, and an ornate wall or fence is very attractive and unusual. The piece measures 4 3/4" high and about 2" at the widest point. The bottom is marked and there are no chips, cracks or repairs. There is some wear of the gilt and discoloration of the faience material at the neck from age and use.
