Hi,

Has anyone else noticed the need to scroll (or in IE the loss off even that) in the 'Item description' and 'about me' sections on auction pages?

I have contacted support but wanted to know if others have since this since the 'server maintenance' started.

Same here, and what's more, featured items are gone too!

hi tom and AS,
i don't think this is a glitch but a designed software change. and a smart one too. looks like it will allow us to input more data into these areas when we post an auction. but then they might have left something out of the gumbo pot on mine. :dunno:

Hi,

I already place significant HTML code into this area. They appear to have made a minor adjustment during the day which 'opens' the area if the scroll bar is attempted to be used. Unfortunately this relies on customers to 'observe' that there is a scroll bar. Even elementary web designers straight out of College know that this is poor design and will lead to many people missing crucial information. In my case it means they will miss for example statements about thins on older material and my extra scans which show specifics in detail. The area must 'expand' to meet our usage (which is what it did and designed my code to match) so that customers are presented with all of the information upfront.

Have a look at my auctions as to how they are presented.

What is more worrying is that I worked with Delcampe to ensure that the code and presentation was okay. By doing what they appear to have done I am forced to withdraw some 1000 auctions to re-submit with new code which needs to be written to meet their new poorer format.

Maybe one day I will get a reply from support about this. If I haven't heard by Sunday I am in Brussels next week so will drop in to see them.

Regards

Thomas

bonsoir tom,
while your there, find out what has happened to pascal and luke. and who has remained on the staff at present. it seems to be a merry-go-round over there with the employees. it is very sad as i liked pascal and luke, as did many other delcampers here on the english site. i would hope that luke is still there. and i will look at my auctions again along with yours. bonne journee mon ami.

amities et a bientot,

bonsoir tom,
i just went to your site and mine. and a little surprise awaits us and the other delcampers. if you click on the scroll bar, the whole banner appears. someone must have heard your complaint and fixed the problem. it worked on my auction and yours (both sections). weird with no one taking credit. i think i know who it is behind this feat of magic, my zydeco roaches. :veryhappy: :applause:

they are the bugs to get all the bugs out of the system.:cool2::ahah:

play some zydeco for tom, boys. :applause::applause::applause:

Hi,

Seb Delcampe sorted it out. It was a planned change that had results not thought through and the 'auto open' was added after my contact. It is still not acceptable since it still requires customers to 'scroll' or accidentally scroll over the area.... I have asked if there is an embedded script we can add to our code to force an opening as our data is loaded.

I have also raised a query over ad hoc altering the physical width of the area under question when us more IT competent design things to match it.

I am having to stop 1000 auctions and re-list with new design! Luckily I have written an auto code producing system from my database so it is not toooo bad but it is still inconvenient.

bonjour tom,
then what was the purpose of this software change? to save server space or aggravate the customer.:angryfire: :grimace: alas, it is like an ol' coon having the fleas, the only relief is in the cold waters of the bayou.:gna::wink2: un bonne journee mon ami.
