hey cousin alf,
took my wife out to a mexican restaurant last night for her birthday dinner. and had some fresh salsa with tomatos from mexico probably. but it sure was good. and the other dishes too. actually, much of the winter produce comes from florida where i live, grown in hot houses. then in the spring, the local farms will start all the summer veggies. much of the fruit is imported from chile right now. or other south american farms.
later gator,
cajunsr.
In here we have them from Spain, Italy, Greece, Marocco... Glas or plastic covered grown, taken green from the field or from their plastic box (most meanwhile don't even see soil). The taste in most cases is like that: plastic. For the salsa they will use canned stuff like I told you, the taste is a lot better. Fruits from Chile we have as well - but I really don't want to know, what they did with them, some years I bought prunes - outside like painted, inside green and hard. I just kept them in kitchen and waited...and waited...and waited. After 2 months they were ok inside - and one day later they turned bad. I had a closer look, but I could not find any brand name of the chemical factory...

YUM fresh salsa...key to that is fresh cilatro...we have a REAL Mexican restaurant here...only hires there own people and they are brought in from down south. They have done really very well here. It is definitely not Taco Bell food. The hubby enjoys his Corona there.
Farming itself in our area is big on Potatoes then Corn...there are a number of large Cabbage & Cauliflower farms. The Northeast part of our county is almost all Concord Grapes. (Welches is out there)
When I was in Quebec, Canada last summer I was suprised at the HUGE amount of apple orchards...they were everywhere. Likely too darn cold up there for much else...that and Maple Syrup. (Yum)
You guys now have me hungry for fresh green beans.
OH, I did file a dispute resolution for the individual in China. I also had an individual I contacted on the where abouts of my items...he said he had not got paid...well I have records of him getting paid via Paypal on Feb 6th he obviously was not paying attention...I even paid him Paypal fees! Sent him back a note with a copy of the amount and invoice and said please send my daughters stuff now.
I don't know about you but I keep a journal book of my buyers When, Where, What they bought and all there contact info. It's worth it in the end. Especially when you are not organized, like I am myself!
